Rockwall Reads and Summer Reading at Cullins Lake Pointe
The library at Cullins was open this summer from 6pm-8pm on Wednesday evenings in June and July. There were different stations set up through out the library. Some of the activities included STEM challenges, story time, crafts, coding games, Lego activities and puzzles. A drawing was held each night for free books. There was also a summer reading challenge that students participated in. Students from WMS and RHS come over to volunteer with the activities. The students loved the activities and so did the parents! Rockwall Reads was a great success in its first year! Our goal was to put books into the hands of kids who may not have access to books in their homes or access to the library during the summer months. Librarians went to the cafeterias at Dobbs and Rochelle every Wednesday from 11:30-12:30 during June and July with a cart of books and an activity for the students. This was a community ourteach program and we partnered with the Rockwall County Children's Librarians and the Rockwall ISD Nutrition Department. |
